Movie cocktails: Glass (2019)

I’ve been thinking that I might try to make more movie-themed cocktails this year because those are always fun, but then I got see Glass a couple of days ago and felt inspired.

Following from his films Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016), writer-director M. Night Shyamalan brings together three central characters for this comic-book-themed crossover. Which says to me that I need to make a drink featuring three equal ingredients.

Which says to me that I need to make a Negroni riff.

I used Boë Violet Gin to represent Samuel L Jackson's bold and often purple-dressed Mr Glass and, to keep the drink as clear as its namesake, I swapped Campari for Italicus, a complex liqueur to match the identity-crisis-ridden hero, David Dunn (played by Bruce Willis).

Then for the last third, to represent JamesMcAvoy's multiple-personalitied ‘Horde’, I SPLIT (you see what I did there) between a dry vermouth and a white vermouth.

Then, in honour of the filmmaker himself, I garnished with the twistiest of twists.

1oz Boë Violet Gin
1oz Italicus Rosolio De Bergamotto
1/2oz Dry Vermouth
1/2oz White Vermouth

Method: Stir all ingredients with ice and strain over a large ice cube - which really should have been much clearer, given the theme - and garnish with a lemon twist.
